
Admission in Community Colleges:
Community Colleges in Canada are large public funded post secondary colleges for education and training that prepare students for 1-4 years for quick entry into employment in Canadian and international job market. Most of the Canadian Community colleges have over 95% employability rate with six months of graduation. A large variety of subjects are taught in community colleges ranging from Business, IT, Engineering, Social and health sciences etc.
International Students can study in Canadian Community Colleges for their Post Secondary Education. They have following Study options:
1. Certificate (1 year)
2. Diploma (2 years)
3. Advance Diploma (3 year)
4. Degree program (4 years)
5. Graduate Certificate (1-2 years)
For Admission in Canadian Community colleges Students need to show 55% or higher marks in their high school diploma depending upon level of course they are joining. They are also required to show their English/French language proficiency depending upon their proposed institution. For admission in Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma programs, students need to show IELTS 6.0 with no module less than 5.5. For admission in Degree program or Graduate certificate, IELTS 6.5 with no module less than 6.0 is acceptable.
Canadian Community Colleges offers variety of fields of study. As these programs are job oriented thus focused on preparing students as per the requirements of the employers in Canada. All programs offered in Canadian Community colleges are in demand in Canadian labour market.
Some programs offered are equipped with 1-3 terms practical training called internship or CO-OP.Cooperative training offers the students to apply their theoretical knowledge and acquire hands on experience. This also gives them an opportunity to show their worth to the employer who may hire them for temporary or Permanent job, that will assist in their Canadian Permanent Residence application.
INTAKES: Majority of the Courses at Canadian Community Colleges start from September (Fall intake). Other popular programs also have a January(winter intake) and / or May (summer intake) as well.
Tuition Fee for International students in Community colleges ranges from C$15000 -20,000 per year, depending upon the course. Engineering and technology programs have a higher fee as compared to business and social sciences.
PGWP: After studying at Canadian Community Colleges, International Students get the opportunity to apply for Post Graduate Work Permit. The duration of the work permit is from 8- 36 months, depending upon the duration of total studies in Canada (Currently upto 100% online studies are also considered to PGWP purpose upto December 31, 2021 due to COVID19)
VISA FOR FAMILY: International students studying in Canadian Community colleges are eligible to bring their spouse and children to Canada. Their spouse are eligible for a full time open work permit whereas, their children can study in Canadian Public Schools for free.
